A multi-layer production cel and background from the Marvel Studios animated series "X-Men" (1992-1997). Featuring a fantastic medium close-up of Mystique while she's trapped by Rogue, the hand-painted cel and background were created at the studio and used during the animation process. Both pieces are actual frames of animation that were photographed and appear in the season one episode "Come the Apocalypse," which aired on February 27, 1993. Measuring 10"x14" overall, with the character image measuring 8"x8", the piece is in very good condition. The cel displays minor scratches, surface wear, light line fade, and paper transfer to the reverse of the paint from studio storage. The background shows minimal edge and corner wear and production-related masking tape to the bottom corners of the background cel overlay. In the episode, there is an additional layer with the science table behind Mystique that she is strapped to, but that piece is not present.
